Andy Jones

Andy Jones is the founder and principal of Apollo Counsel, a federal government relations firm in Washington, D.C. A lawyer by training, he has spent more than two decades at the intersection of law, politics, and policy — as a senior aide and Counsel in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a lobbyist at two of Washington’s largest government affairs firms.

Andy’s career began in public service, working as a litigator for the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, NY. On Capitol Hill, he served as an aide to Reps. Ken Bentsen and Rubén Hinojosa of Texas, and then as Legislative Director and Counsel to Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico — now a United States Senator serving on the Finance, Commerce, and Agriculture Committees. In that role, Andy advised on the Congressman’s work on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, his positions in House Democratic Caucus leadership, and his chairmanship of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He managed the team that counseled the Congressman on all pending legislation, including the Affordable Care Act, the Dodd-Frank Act, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and the Budget Control Act, and served as a consultant to the DCCC as it gained seats in 2016 and won a House majority in the 2018 cycle.

In private practice, Andy has represented clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to trade associations and small nonprofits before founding Apollo Counsel. He remains closely engaged with the New Democrat Coalition — the center-left coalition of pragmatic House Democrats, founded in 1997, who work across the aisle and across the Capitol to advance innovative, inclusive, and forward-looking policies — and serves on the board of the ReNew Democracy Foundation, which places talented new voices in congressional offices.

A native of Houston, Texas, Andy lives in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife, two children, and the menagerie of pets his family adopts whenever he’s out of town.
